I’d probably give the actual scooter a 4.25 stars, and Micro customer service gives it the extra boost. I got this to keep up with a group of 5 kids ages 4-8 on the mile-long trek home from school. This is my first scooter, and overall I’m very happy with it!
Pros: The suspension is great and the ride is so smooth, even over some pretty brutal city sidewalk conditions. Big 200mm wheels are nice. I like the handbrake and it made the idea of scooting less intimidating, but now that I’ve got the hang of it I feel like I could handle a rear brake. The handlebar has a nice grip. We have two Micro Maxis in our family already and the Metropolitan Deluxe is the same high quality, solid construction. It’s a totally quiet ride - no rattles. I guess this is pretty close to my optimal deck height - any lower and it would scrape, any higher and it would be more strain to reach the ground. It’s easy to adjust handlebar height. I almost never actually fold it up but the system is easy enough. It has a little loop in the front that I think(?) is for attaching a carry strap. It’s also a really good looking thing- it looks more like a very nice adult escooter than a kids’ toy.
Cons: The kickstand is ridiculously puny - difficult to kick open and not really formidable enough to hold up the scooter on anything other than the flattest terrain. While I love how sleek and minimal it is, I think on my next scooter I would prefer a slightly wider deck.
There were no reviews at all when I bought this and I made myself CRAZY trying to decide whether to get it. Like, I read reviews of similar scooters from the Australian and European sites. I’m really glad I did and am trying to convert other cool parents to embracing the scoot, because it’s actually tons of fun. (This might also be a gateway to getting an escooter)
I’ve interacted with Micro customer service a couple of times and been very impressed. I called on a weekend to ask if I was doing something wrong with the kickstand and the person I spoke to was so kind but not near the model, so they suggested I call during the week and someone could possibly even make a video to help me!
