Micro Kickboard is honored to have been named a Winner of the Green Good Design Sustainability Award from GOOD DESIGN® for our ECO Mini and Maxi designs. |
GOOD DESIGN®
Founded in 1950, GOOD DESIGN® is one of the oldest and most prestigious ecological awards, operated by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. The Green Good Design Sustainability Award recognizes companies that produce the best ecological and sustainable designs.
Clean & Green
At Micro, our mission has always been to provide fuel-free transport for every-day ‘micro’ journeys - ones that are too short for a car, too far to walk. Our scooters are a cleaner, greener way for children and adults to explore the world. And, since every Micro scooter is designed with replaceable parts, Micro scooters can continually be refreshed and updated - for a lifetime of scooting - rather than a lifetime in a landfill.
ECO Collection
Our new ECO Collection is the next step in our quest to provide planet-friendly transport. The ECO Collection uses recycled plastic from discarded fishing nets and other plastic waste that might otherwise end up in the oceans to create the ECO scooter decks.
Fishing Nets -> Scooters
If it’s difficult to imagine how fishing nets and scooters could end up in the same sentence, a little more information about the process might be helpful. It starts when the maritime industry discards nets, trawls, and other materials that, while made of strong, high-quality plastic, are no longer usable for their original purpose.
We gather up, recycle, and reuse them, turning them into recycled plastic to create the decks of some of our best-selling products, the ECO Mini and Maxi Scooters. It’s (almost!) as simple as 1, 2, 3.
