Screen Free Week

The organizers behind Screen Free Week describe it best: “Screen-Free Week is an annual invitation to play, explore, and rediscover the joys of life beyond ad-supported screens. Even though it’s about turning off screens, Screen-Free Week isn’t about going without – it’s about what you can get! An hour once dedicated to YouTube becomes an hour spent outside; ten minutes whiled away on social media turn into ten minutes spent doodling; a movie on a rainy afternoon is replaced by time spent reading, chatting, or playing pretend!”

Tag us in your screen free adventures @microkickboard to join in the fun and for your chance to be featured!

May 4: Bedazzle your Scooter

This is your chance to make your scooter your own! Decorate your scooter with whatever craft supplies you have around the house: gems, washi tape, puffy paint… the works! Add a personal touch to your kiddo’s ride.

May 5: DIY Streamers

We’ll be guiding you through how to make your own streamers out of paper, however, feel free to let your imagination run wild with rubber bands + ribbon, string, or an old T-shirt! Your new streamers will be perfect to scoot around your ‘hood.

May 6: Neighborhood Checklist

Can you find these items near your house? Have your child seek out each of the items listed and draw them on this FREE printable activity sheet! Depict them just as you saw them or get creative with an artistic rendition. Click below to download our Screen Free Week printables!

May 7: Scooting Flat Stanley/ Stacey

It’s time to let your family and friends know about all of the fun you’ve been having during Screen Free Week! Create your own version of Scooting Flat Stanley and have your child draw themselves on the printable! Then send a picture of the finished project (we recommend scanning or taking a photo) to your family and friends to show all of the places your child can “scoot.” See how many locations you can get! Grandma’s china collection sounds like it could get pretty gnarly ;) The printable can be found below!

May 8: Create Your Own Scooter Course

Break out the cones, chalk, and other obstacles! It’s time to start your engines and zip around the driveway, curving and carving from start to finish. Draw stop signs, intersections, or a closed loop- whatever is most fun for you and your fam!

May 9: Decorate your helmet!

Add stickers or use dry erase markers or puffy paint to make your helmet extra fun! Add your name, a fun design, or your favorite character. Make your helmet an expression of YOU! (Note: our Micro V2 helmets are not compatible with dry erase markers. Keep decor away from buckles, interior or any other area that could affect the effectiveness of your helmet!)

May 10: Quarantine Bingo

We know, there are tons of things you could do if life was “business as usual.” But with the implementation of stay at home orders and social distancing guidelines, we’re all spending much more time at home! Your fam has likely accomplished more than you’re giving yourself credit for, PLUS there’s so many exciting things to keep you entertained. Check out our list of activities in Quarantine Bingo! Let us know if you get BINGO by tagging us on instagram @microkickboard and we'll send you a free Micro gym bag!

We hope you enjoy Screen Free Week as much as we do! Click here to download all of our free printables!
