Congrats On Your New Micro Scooter! Miles of Smiles Are Ahead🛴🤩

Thanks for joining the Micro Kickboard crew! Your new ride is ready to roll—and we’ve got the inside scoop to help you ride like a pro, keep it clean, and make it last for the long haul (literally, for years!). Let’s dive into the tips that’ll keep your scooter (and your scooting skills) in tip-top shape!

Safety First!🤗

It’s never too early to teach smart and simple scooting habits! Try simple steps like:

    • Always stopping at corners to check for traffic

    • Getting off your scooter and walking it across the street

    • Sticking to sidewalks or paved trails (rather than streets)

    • Always checking driveways for moving cars before crossing them

    • Controlling your speed with the brake (for young children, we recommend scooting at the same speed as a fast walker)

    • Riding with a parent or a responsible and experienced scooter buddy

Helmets are a must—for riders of all ages. They reduce the risk of injury, protect riders from the elements, and include a rear flashing light to improve visibility on the go.

💡Micro tip: Check our blog on how to find the right size for your child before purchasing a helmet!

How to Assemble, Fold, & Unfold🪛

Your Micro scooter arrives either fully assembled or with just a step or two to get rolling. These steps can take anywhere from about 30 seconds to a few minutes. So, here we go:

🛴Non-Foldable Mini & Maxi Scooters:

To attach the handlebar: Find the red locking pin at the base of the T-bar, and press it in as you insert it into the scooter base. (Sometimes this can be easier if you use the interior of the opening to press the pin in while you insert it.)

👉See our video for a tutorial!

To detach the handlebar: Flip the scooter upside down and put one foot on each handgrip. Push in the red locking pin (sometimes covered by a red rubber flap) as you (simultaneously) lift the scooter base up.

🛴Foldable Mini Scooter: To fold or unfold, press the black button in on the left side of the T-bar and fold or unfold until it clicks into place.

🛴Foldable Maxi Scooter: To fold or unfold, pull up on the black collar at the T-bar base and fold or unfold until it clicks into place.

🛴Two-Wheel Scooters: To fold or unfold, first, open the silver or black clamp found on the right side of the T-bar base. Next, push in the button on the left side of the T-bar base (this might be silver, black, or blue) and fold or unfold your scooter until the T-bar clicks into place. Finally, close the clamp to secure in place!

🛴Kickboard Monster: Pull up on the black collar at the T-bar base and fold or unfold until it clicks into place.

🛴Adding Chopper-Style Handlebars: To attach the handlebar, use the included Allen wrench to remove the two front screws on the T-bar. Next, align the handlebar with the middle of the T-bar and screw the clamp back on to secure.

How to Start Scooting🛴

Three-Wheel Kickboards
Our three-wheel rides use a “lean-to-steer” system—designed for smooth turns and intuitive learning. Instead of turning the handlebars, riders shift their body weight to steer.

To ride, start with one foot on the deck and push off with the other. The front foot should stay planted on the deck of the scooter while the kicking foot either rests behind it or near the brake when not kicking.

To stop, press down on the rear spoon-shaped brake with your back foot. At first, young children may simply step off the scooter to stop before they understand how to use the brake. This is actually a good instinct—matter of fact, we tell children it’s a good skill to have in case something were to happen to the brake.

To park your kickboard, simply hop off! There’s no extra steps to parking your kickboard-style scooter as they stay standing when you hop off and are ready to ride again when you are!

Two-Wheel Scooters

Our two-wheel rides use the classic handlebar steering design (similar to a bicycle’s) that offers quicker movements and sharper turns.

To ride, step one foot onto the deck, push off the ground with the other, and turn the handlebars slightly, to steer right or left. Press the rear brake with your back foot to slow down or stop.

To park your scooter, locate the kickstand underneath the left side of the deck, towards the front of the scooter. Flip it down and let the scooter rest on it.

💡Micro tip: Our kickstands have a patented two-way functionality—so, when you’re ready to ride again, push the kickstand forward, and you’ll be able to pull it down with your toe when you’re ready to park it again.

Take Care of Your Ride🧽

Micro scooters are built to last—but a little upkeep goes a long way in keeping them rolling like new.

Top Care Tips:

    • Store in a dry spot (we love the garage or the mudroom!)

    • Wipe handgrips with mild household cleaner

    • Clean the deck with the rough side of a sponge, soap and water

    • Clean the wheels with the soft side of a sponge

    • Clean the body of the scooter with a sponge and some soap and water

    • Check and tighten the T-bar clamps and bolts as needed (often, the scooter will feel or lose if anything is, but it’s a good idea to tighten them up a bit on a routine basis)

    • Make a habit of parking it upright (leaving the T-bar on the ground might cause scratching)

    • Stick to paved trails (sandy beaches or gravel roads can get pesky dirt in the wheels)

Replacement Parts

We also offer replacement parts for every Micro scooter—and don’t forget about our warranty on manufacturer defects too! We provide easy-to-follow instructions and/or videos on repairs, most of which are quick and easy home-fixes that only require the scooter’s included Allen wrench!

We encourage you to include your children in the maintenance process—oftentimes, they enjoy watching and assisting where they can on their favorite toy.

Find Your Favorite Scooting Spot🌳

New to scooting? Home is a great place to start—and yes, you can even ride indoors thanks to our non-marking wheels!

When you’re ready to roll outdoors, look for smooth, dry surfaces like sidewalks, driveways, or paved park paths. Avoid gravel, sand, wet surfaces, or uneven terrain, which can make scooting tricky at any age!

💡Bonus tip! Early mornings or quieter times of day can give your rider extra space and confidence to practice.

Personalize & Accessorize!

Looking to add some excitement to your ride? Add an accessory (or two!) for some points in scooting style!

Like helmets, scooter lights and bells can be helpful accessories for smart scooting—it’s important to be seen and heard!

Our Scootaseatz and ScootaHeadz are also wildly popular scooter accessories that add a fun new “friend” to your child’s ride. Our streamers are another top-pick for kids who love to see the power of their zoom while on the move!
