Helmet Sizing

Micro Helmets are sized according to head measurements—not by age—for the best fit possible. 

To measure your child’s head for helmet sizing, wrap a flexible measuring tape (or a piece of string that can be laid out and measured against a ruler) around their head roughly the width of two fingers above their eyebrows. Repeat the measurement a few times to ensure you get a consistent number. 

Micro Helmet Sizing: 

  • XS: 46-50 cm (18-19.7 in)

  • SM: 48-53 cm (18.9-20.9 in)

  • MED: 52-56 cm (20.5-22 in)

  • The best way to find the right Micro Helmet size is to measure your child’s head, rather than choosing a size based on age. Just like you’d choose shoes based on foot size, helmet size is based on head circumference to help ensure the best fit. 

    To measure your child’s head, use a flexible measuring tape and wrap it around their head about two fingers’ width above their eyebrows and just above their ears. If you don’t have a measuring tape, you can use a piece of string and then measure the string against a ruler. Take the measurement a few times to make sure you get a consistent result. 

    Micro Helmet Sizing: 

    • XS: 46-50 cm 
    • SM: 48-53 cm
    • MED: 52-56 cm

  • Start by placing the helmet on your child’s head, making sure it sits level and covers the forehead without blocking their vision. Before buckling the chinstraps, use the rear spin dial to tighten or loosen the helmet until it feels snug and secure. The helmet should stay firmly in place without wiggling or shifting, even before the chin straps are fastened. 

    Next, buckle the chin straps underneath your child’s chin. Adjust the straps so they’re snug but comfortable, leaving enough room to fit two fingers between the straps and your child’s chin. This helps ensure the helmet stays securely in place while they ride. 

    Finally, tuck any excess strap into the attached rubber band to keep it neatly out of the way.

  • It’s magnetic! The easy-to-use magnetic buckle is designed to make fastening the helmet simple for kids, while helping minimize the chance of pinching. It’s a small feature that gives young riders a little more independence when getting ready to ride. 

    To buckle the straps, simply place the two buckle ends on top of each other, and they’ll automatically secure in place with a “click!” To unbuckle, simply push the two buckle pieces together from the sides to release the magnet and pull the straps apart.

  • Micro Helmets are designed to fit a wide range of ages, from little riders as young as 12 months through the tween years. 

    Keep in mind that helmet size is based on head circumference, not age. Since kids grow at different rates, an older or younger rider may fit a different helmet size than you’d expect based on age alone. For the best fit, always measure your child’s head and use our helmet sizing guide to find the right size.
